In a surprise posting on the official Google Blog, Google's Chief Executive Officer, Eric Schmidt,
announces that he will be stepping down as CEO. Schmidt will still be at Google as Executive Chairman.
Google co-founder, Larry Page, will be taking over as Chief Executive Officer. Changes will take
effect on April 4th. In the posting, Schmidt gives streamlining as the reason for the magement change.
"As Google has grown, managing the business has become more complicated. So Larry [Page], Sergey [Brin]
and I have been talking for a long time about how best to simplify our management structure and
speed up decision making—and over the holidays we decided now was the right moment to make some
changes to the way we are structured."
