A car charger while convienient really depends on having a long enough travel time to charge a cellphone to an acceptable level. It is
not good to leave the charger plugged in while the car is turned off. This problem can be solved with a portable charger. Portable chargers
come with different sizes of batteries so pick the charger with enough mAh to recharge your phone to full. About 1000 mAh should be
enough for most cellphones. Smartphones should be about 1500 mAh. We did an unscientific test with four different portable chargers and
a HTC Touch Pro 2 with a 1500 mAh battery running Windows Mobile 6.5. The portable chargers were the Duracell Instant USB charger (1150 mAh),
Energizer Energi To Go XP 1000 by XPAL (1000 mAh), Duracell My Pocket Charger by Xantrex International (2 AA batteries), and
Energizer Energi To Go Mini USB (2 AA batteries). We used the chargers to charge the HTC smartphone from 40% to 100% The time to charge
the smartphone took every one of them about one hour to charge to 100%. Our choice between the four chargers is the Duracell Instant USB
Charger. It's relatively lightweight, and has enough power to charge most feature phones and smartphones with a good amount of power. The
Energizer Energi To Go XP 1000 does have its benefits however. If you register your purchase with them, they'll give you free tips. (Full
details of the free tips offer at
http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/us/services/free-tips-for-life.html.) All four of the portable chargers came with miniUSB adapter.
The Energizer Energi To Go XP 1000 also came with a microUSB adapter tip. While AA batteries are relatively easy to find and inexpensive,
we wouldn't recommend the other two as they're somewhat heavy, and are not as environmentally friendly unless you're using rechargable batteries.
