Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
January 6, 2011
Sony unveils the Xperia arc, an Android smartphone with a 4.2” multi-touch Reality Display, Mobile
BRAVIA Engine and Exmor R, at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show. The Xperia arc is powered by
1 Ghz Qualcomm processor. Sony Ericsson says that the xperia arc "is the first of a new generation
of Xperia smartphones to be announced in 2011." The Xperia arc's camera is 8.1 megapixels camera
with HD video recording capability. We're glad that Sony Ericsson made a decent showing.
Sony Ericsson's flagship devices, the X10 series, made do with Android 1.6 that was updated to
Android 2.1 in late 2010. While it's an improvement, Xperia x10 users would miss the improvements
made to Android 2.2. They also would not be able to use the G-mail app that was released in September
2010 that was not tied to system releases.
The question now is whether consumers would buy the new Xperia arc or did the situation with the
x10's updates put them off.
